The Darling Home for Kids is located in Milton and is a 16 bed facility providing respite, hospice-palliative and long term residential care to children ages 0-18 with significant medical complexities.

The home is staffed on a 24 basis by registered nurses and personal support workers, with access to physician support as needed. To be eligible for programs children must require ongoing nursing interventions and monitoring on a frequent basis for survival. Medical care requirements include but are not limited to tracheostomy care, administration of gastrostomy or jejunostomy tube feeds, ostomy care, mechanical ventilation and complex seizure management.

The Darling Home for Kids provides a homelike environment with a large family room and gathering area, kitchen, multi-purpose room, hydrotherapy room, Snoezelen room and 7 bedrooms that can accommodate 16 children for overnight care. Nestled on 77 acres of woodland, the Home provides a tranquil and peaceful setting for our children and their families. In addition to its core services, the Home provides therapeutic programming including music therapy, recreation therapy and multi-sensory snoezelen therapy.

The Darling Home for Kids is licensed by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, is a transfer payment agency and in receipt of government funding annually for its respite program and hospice programs. Children in our residential program require per diem funding. Previous placement agencies who have utilized the residential program include Children's Aid Societies from across the province, the Ministry of Community and Social Services, and Community Care Access Centres.

Since opening its doors in 2004, The Darling Home for Kids has been a vital resource for families and placement agencies across the province and is recognized as a centre of excellence for paediatric care in the community.
