The Croft is a home for children with special needs, who also may be medically fragile. We offer a family setting to each child with the love and attention that every child needs to grow to reach their full potential. The Croft is situated in a country setting with a scenic view of the Oak Lake Hills. We have quick access to Highways 401, 33, 7, 14 and 62. The home is designed to accommodate wheelchairs and the equipment needed to offer a full range of programs for our children.

We have access to all the services offered by the cities of Belleville, Trenton, Kingston and Toronto. Our local communities offer a full range of services from medical, recreational, educational as well as other support units. The Croft is a staff model home with complete care 24 hours a day. The staff have years of experience with D.S.W. training, E.C.E. training, a nurse on call, our own family doctor and a full team of specilists to help care for the children.

We maintain a complete file on each child and keep daily logs that record their activities. We also have a life book for each child that is a picture book of their life with us.

The Croft has its own pool for therapy and also in house recreational programs. We also have an outside play area with swings and hammocks. We are equipped with a full range of equipment inside for therapy and play. We work closely with parents to offer the support needed to learn to cope with their child’s special needs. The Croft has a family room for comfort and privacy. We keep the parents well supplied with pictures of their child's every day activities at the home.

Wm. R. Kirk School system provides our children with educational programs to suit their special needs. We are provided with our own school bus for transportation. We maintain a daily communication book with the teachers and we work closely together for the best interest of the child.

We are responsible to the Kingston Area Office of the Ministry of Community and Social Services for the operation of the home. We have annual inspections that include fire, health and the Ministry.

Each child's social worker is supplied with quarterly reports after the initial Plan of Care. Annual reports and updated Plans of Care are prepared as required.
