Eagle Circles the Nest provides a comfortable family environment with sufficient structure and supervision to ensure that the youth would feel safe and emotionally supported to express themselves. The program is designed to assist the youth to develop critical life skills and personal assets including:
(1) a positive self concept by providing them with a strong identification to positive role models in the community
(2) the ability to regulate their emotions and manage depressive moods, social anxiety and anger about past trauma by providing them a different way of thinking about their situation and history (based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
(3) positive interpersonal relationships by teaching them effective problem solving and the ability to assess a social situation, to identify who they can trust and to communicate their feelings and needs to trustworthy people.
(4) success in school or the workplace by carefully setting up learning opportunities in the community and coaching the youth in appropriate and acceptable social interactions
(5) respect and trust in their elders, teachers and other authority figures in the community by providing trained staff who model this skill in their interaction with the youth and by providing observation and encouragement to the youth about their interactions with adults in the community.
